Walt is originally from Raleigh, North Carolina and has become a de facto New Englander, spending time in Maine for high school and college, and now lives in Boston. Prior to joining Gratitude, Walt worked in the Global Fund Banking sector of Silicon Valley Bank. He graduated from Bates College in 2019 with a BA in Politics and Rhetoric and a minor in Music. During his time at Bates, Walt was the Student Body President, Captain of the football team, a member of the Bates College Deansmen (the College’s oldest a capella group), as well as a host of other committees and student organizations.
What drew Walt to join Gratitude is the firm’s commitment to investing in diverse founders. He’s thrilled for the phenomenal opportunity to blend his passion for social justice along with his desire to work with companies and founders seeking to leave an indelible mark on society. Walt is particularly passionate about Microfinance, EdTech, and Mental Health. He currently sits on the Board of Trustees at Kents Hill School, of which he is an alum, and volunteers with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
